"This is an invitation to come together in late July after the summer community delegation is back in Olympia. There are 18 people (!) from 7 months to 86 years old from Olympia (including Maureen's young granddaughter from Chicago) in Santo Tomás right now. One or two of the students from the spring delegation may be in town as well in July. We typically get together for a yard party around July 19th, the day celebrated as Nicaragua's triumph over the US supported dictatorship of 43 years, which ended in 1979. This year, the timing of that weekend won't work for the hosting backyard, so we're going for Cuba's day of celebration of the launch of the Cuban independence movement on July 26th, 1953. So, put this date on your calendars, and plan to bring something to either barbecue (there will be a vegetarian grill as well as a meat/seafood grill) or a sidedish to share. Kids welcome!"
